Proven Success Strategies: Client Experiences

The regional president of a consumer-goods company whom I was coaching once said to me, “It’s not the content or HPT models or techniques that you offer. Rather, the fact that you personally model HPT behavior allows me to trust you. That, in turn, has enabled me to achieve a breakthrough and recognize the role that I had played in the breakdown of my relationship with a significant colleague.” There’s just no substitute for walking the talk.

—Thom Radice
Thom Radice has been an associate senior consultant with Guttman Development Strategies, Inc. since 1992. He believes in the value of creating a “learning organization” that promotes an arena for development, valuing the growth of people and their talents.

Organizations currently work with Thom to leverage their competitive edge by creating high-performance teams and creating corporate cultures that drive accountability. This is accomplished by aligning senior management and business teams in support of their organizational vision, purpose, and objectives. A result is horizontal and matrix organizations that thrive on accelerating performance.

“The greatest obstacle to our learning is what we already know”

On an individual level, Thom customizes interventions that address core needs and challenges. He also delivers leadership and communication programs that improve members’ capability levels and provides high-performance executive coaching to senior-level and high-potential managers from global Fortune 500 companies that include Mars, Inc.; Fonterra; Johnson & Johnson; and Munich Re Insurance.

Early in his career, Thom was a lead instructor for a New Jersey-based Outward Bound organization, leading 1-to-30-day “wilderness” adventures throughout the United States. A core competency he developed was facilitating groups through their difficult encounters and raising awareness of behaviors that contribute to effective workability. He later became the director of a management development firm, High Impact Training, which designed and conducted experiential training and interventions for business leaders, their teams, and their organizations. He has also taught in two private schools for “behaviorally challenged” adolescents.

Across a broad spectrum of industries that includes health services, technology, and consumer products, Thom continues to facilitate team alignments and conduct development sessions in leadership awareness, capability-building seminars, and team development workshops for employees at all levels, from senior management to line workers. Clients are impressed by Thom’s flexible style and directness, along with his ability to adjust to the needs of the specific group or individual without compromising value and pragmatic results.
